Who we are..
Kirsten has been a Board Certified Music Therapist since 2016 and specializes in working with children with communication and behavioral challenges. Kirsten earned her B.Mus. in Vocal Performance at University of Oregon and her M.M. in Music Therapy from Colorado State University, and also pursued advanced studies in vocal performance from New England Conservatory.
Kirsten completed her 6-month clinical internship at the Albert J. Solnit Children’s Psychiatric Center where she worked with adolescents with significant behavioral health needs. Kirsten completed advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy in 2016, which focuses on evidence-based practice and the fundamental brain changes that occur when a person engages in music making. In addition to being a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), Kirsten is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Kirsten was born with a passion for working with children with special needs and has worked in the field of special needs in school, home, and community based settings since 2004; and she strongly believes in evidence-based practice as well as utilizing creativity and adapting to each client’s individual strengths and needs. When Kirsten’s isn’t working, she is likely exploring the beautiful Colorado wilderness.
Altitude Music Therapy Services (Kirsten Arbogast, MT-BC) was born of a dream to provide access to high quality Neurologic Music Therapy Services to parts of rural Colorado which are currently “service deserts”. Without access to valuable therapeutic services (including music therapy), individuals with autism and other neurological or developmental differences/disabilities often struggle to thrive.
Altitude Music Therapy Services works with families to identify, analyze, and problem solve barriers to accessing sustainable therapy services. Common barriers include financial and geographic barriers, as well as lack of other therapeutic supports or education in disability specific resources.
